First of all, what all these products do is to help cleanse your skin or hair, that is, remove dirt, makeup, debris, oil or any environment pollution from the skin and hair. They are the first care or product of any skincare or haircare routine.

One of them is made through chemical reaction (SAPONIFICATION) with the help of sodium hydroxide or potassium hydroxide, while the others are made using surfactants (foaming agents which helps with cleansing, and foam. The latter is usually more gentle on the skin than the former

Soap pH is usually high, at alkaline level which can cause irritation or strip the skin natural sebum whereas the other products pH are usually balanced to suit the skin natural pH

In summary, knowing which surfactant to choose, what % of it you need in the formulation, which are best suited together etc are part of what we discuss in our skincare or haircare formulation course, you can either join the PHYSICAL class in Lagos, Nigeria or you join the online class to learn from anywhere you are in the world at your convenience.
